Harpa Inti Mandiri

About Us | Sustainable Commitment

By sourcing float stone, a soft rock formed by the lava of Java’s volcanoes, and integrating it into our products, we bring a piece of Indonesia’s dramatic landscape to homes across the world. Uncommon, abundant and highly evocative, float stone and other renewable materials such as pandanus, mendong, water hyacinth, bamboo, and lava stones are bound into frames, candle holders, baskets and storage. In our workshops and in family homes in our neighborhood, we rely on water adhesives and natural dyes to craft these products.

After more than 10 years in operation serving home accessories retailers in Europe and the US, our target is to become a fully sustainable company. Our raw materials come from within a 60 kilometer radius, mostly from villages where our business means more income and work, especially for women. At Harpa, all employees are earning more than the minimum regional wage, and we require the same from our suppliers. And with a new program to instill sustainability values in our workplace, including paper saving and energy reduction, we are well on our way to soon become a proud member of the Sustainable Furniture Council.

We committed to improve our environmental efficiency of our business operation, products and services to produce the same product with less energy, fewer materials and less waste.

Our commitment to sustainability requires us to go beyond our own operations and to seek reductions in the total environmental footprint of our business.

Harpa would like to get involve in promoting and educating the sustainable business practices both locally as and internationally.
